Creatine kinase (CK) is a dimer composed of M and B subunits. There are three isozymes in the cytoplasm: CK-MM, CK-MB and CK-BB. Creatine kinase is a major enzyme of muscle metabolism that facilitates the reversible reaction of creatine phosphorylation by adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
